For Parents

What you need to know about how Acadu works, and how we protect your child.

What Acadu is

Acadu is a study companion that helps students learn from their own materials — notes, past papers and syllabus specifications. It teaches one idea at a time, checks understanding, marks work, and builds a revision plan around real exam dates. It is a learning aid, not a replacement for a teacher.

Age and consent

Acadu is intended for students aged 13 and above. If your child is under 18, they may use Acadu only with your permission, and you are responsible for their use of the service. We may ask you to confirm consent at any time, and we may suspend an account if we reasonably believe consent has not been given.

What data is collected

  • Account data — email address, name, and year of study.
  • Study content — documents your child uploads, chats, solutions and whiteboards.
  • Learning profile — mastery scores and review schedules used to personalise tutoring.
  • Technical data — request logs and identifiers needed to operate the service.

Where the data goes

To generate explanations and feedback, the text of uploaded material is sent to our AI provider for processing. Acadu does not use your child’s content to train its own models, and our current provider processes prompts transiently without training on them. A full list of the providers we use is in our Privacy Policy.

AI can make mistakes

Explanations and marking are not guaranteed to be correct. Acadu is designed to encourage checking against source material, and we recommend your child verify anything important against their textbook, teacher or exam-board materials.

Academic integrity

Acadu is a tool for learning, not for bypassing coursework or exams. We ask students not to submit generated work as their own, and different schools and exam boards have different rules about AI assistance — your child is responsible for checking the rules that apply to their assessment.

Your control

  • You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your child’s data at any time.
  • Accounts can be deleted via Settings → Delete account.
  • Acadu supports two-factor authentication and login lockout.
